Taking care of your pet’s teeth does not have to be a task you take on alone. Our clinic is dedicated to your pet’s health and well-being. We want to give you the proper knowledge and tools to keep your pet happy and healthy.
Think about all the essential tasks animals perform for their survival with their mouth. Animals use their mouths to eat, make noise and breathe – just as we do.. However, they do not have opposable thumbs like humans, which means that animals use their mouths to perform the tasks we use our hands for.
An animal’s teeth are crucial for its survival and well-being, so they should be given exceptional care and attention. Unfortunately, this is often not the case. Part of the problem is the lack of awareness owners have when it comes to their animal’s oral health. It’s hard to know what to look for and be aware of when you aren’t a professional. That’s why it’s always a good idea to have regular check-ups with a trusted vet so that you can openly discuss your concerns. During those regular check-ups, your vet can monitor your pet’s oral health. Most vets offer dental cleanings, which is a good investment, especially if your animal is more susceptible to gum disease and tooth decay.
Talk to your vet about your specific animal and circumstances to get a better understanding of how to monitor and improve your animal’s oral health.
Some basic products that you can buy to help with dental hygiene are outlined by the Veterinary Oral Health Council. That list of products is linked here.
