Dr. Jerica Thoms

Dr. Jerica Thoms is originally from Hamlin, Iowa, where she grew up on the family farm growing hay, corn, soybeans, hogs, cattle, and sheep, as well as an assortment of dogs, cats, and hamsters. She was very active in 4-H and FFA and enjoyed summers teaching swimming lessons and lifeguarding at the city pool.

After high school, Dr. Thoms earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Colorado State University in 2004. She enjoyed traveling, tramping (hiking), and wine tasting in New Zealand during a study abroad at Lincoln University, focusing on food and dairy science. Back at CSU, Dr. Thoms tracked large animal and obtained her DVM, as well as a Business Certificate, in 2008.

An internship at Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital in Snohomish, Washington, was Dr. Thoms’ next stop for a year of intensive training in equine medicine, lameness, and surgery. She is certified in Acupuncture (Medical Acupuncture for Veterinarians) as well as Chiropractic (Options for Animals).

Dr. Thoms then moved to south Texas, where she worked in mixed practices for a total of 7 years and at small animal general and emergency practices as a relief veterinarian for 4 years prior to becoming owner of Sinton Veterinary Clinic. When she’s not working, Dr. Thoms enjoys exploring with her two kiddos, traveling, and enjoying delicious food and drinks. She is also deeply adored by her ChiWeenie, Mimi Sophia Batgirl Thoms.
